Avatar Comic Con Panel Review
Even though the SDCC was three weeks ago, I have been on vacation and havent had access to my laptop. My narrative recall on the situation stinks; Im not that great of a writer. If you might have seen me, I was the short-brown haired girl with the too thick black jacket who spoke in babbled speech, saying her name was pangeaclan.
Im aware of the lateness of this journal.
7:15 AM: We (my mom and I) arrive at the convention center and get in line. As we pass, there is a huge line of fans, geeks, enthusiasts, -tard, what you will. The girl who was cosplaying Appa was being interviewed by a local news reporter. I made a cheerful whooping noise as I passed; she smiled at me in response. I had just conversed with an Avatard in real life...my head almost exploded.
7:20 AM: By this time we had made it to the end of the line and I came to a realization: I had seen few Avatards in the line. I was worried, we were told Saturday was the biggest day and that the meet was at 10:30-11:30, and I had completely forgotten what the panels room number was. Eventually a group of cosplayers passed by, they had already pre-registered and got their passes the days before and could go in and get in line. Looking back, it was pretty stupid to not get one the day before.
8:30 AM: After an hour the doors finally opened, the line moved fairly quickly, and I made sure to note any vaguely familiar faces. However, we still didnt know where the room was. I hunted the girl I saw earlier in the Appa suit, and asked if she knew were it was. She apologized and said no, so we got in the line for the panels and waited.
9:00 AM: After much wait, we found the panel was in ballroom 6B. So we got into
that line and waited. My mom, being the extravert that she is, started talking to the girl behind us. She said she was from Arizona and liked to sew, she was wearing and outfit that was popular in Japan. The year before, my family and I visited and my mom kindly answered her questions about transportation and the districts. Her friend was the tea-serving Iroh and had the costume made by her and his mom.
9:30-10:30AM: The doors to 6B opened, and the space was filled with Avatards of all ages. My mother started reading her book, and I complained that there would no one to talk to. She said I should talk to someone, it was on of the reasons I wanted to come. I finally agreed and looked for someone to talk to. To my surprise, I saw a Yue cosplayer, with white hair and everything. She turned out to be

(lokotei). She made the clothes herself, which were really good. The white wig was a request; she gave them a picture of Yue for reference.
I arrived back at my seat, red-faced and with a slightly faster heartbeat. The story came out as incoherent babble but my mom managed to get the picture. Flipping to the next page, she said that I should do it again. I said okay, and with a little more pride in my walk for not being so much of a wall flower; which is slightly ironic, considering that Im a Leo.
Suddenly, a recognizable face popped up; it was the famous Zutarian fanfic writer Lady Rai Frost

. Although it didnt look like it, I was spazzing out in my shoes. As a conversation starter I said that I liked how her fanfics were not the stereotypical capture-and-bait fics. She mentioned how ironic it was that its the first thing Zuko did in the game and we both laughed.
We both laughed. The experience made my head self-destruct, yet there was no time to recover before Zutara Queen Irrel

started talking to Lady Rai. I dont remember what I said, but Im sure it was and awkward mix between French and Mandarin. I literally ran to my seat, and my mother scolded me. After a few more less awkward interactions including the Toph finalist, Zen

, the panel began. I recommend you go as a cosplayer if you want to meet people.
10:30-11:30: FUN. FUNFUNFUNFUN
FUN. I have been inspired to work harder in the year ahead. Maybe even upload something.

Oh yeah, BIRTHDAY ON SIXTEENTH!
